I am always hungry.
I wish I could genuinely say that it’s always a hunger for knowledge and the best that I can be. Yes, that’s true. But the honest truth is that I love food and food is always on my mind.
OK, maybe not always, but 90% of the time.
I just had breakfast and I’m already thinking about what to have to lunch.
OK, fine…always.
I’m a big fan of eating, cooking, and seeing the looks of my family’s and friends’ faces when I make something that they like. I know something is really good when it involves eyes rolling back into their heads and a slight moment of silence to appreciate the moment. That usually happens when bacon is involved or when I make Lumpia Shanghai. (Find out what that is and how to make it here)
I also think that anything with a fried egg on top – with a beautiful, runny yolk – is as about as close to heaven as you can get.
I love all kinds of food and am willing to try just about anything. Well, except balut (my fellow Filipinos and fans of “Survivor”, you know what I’m talking about). Speaking of being Filipino, I am a proud First Generation Filipino American. I hope to be part of the wonderful group of Filipinos that are familiarizing palattes with the amazingness that is Filipino food. It’s more than just balut, believe me.
For the most part I try to eat pretty healthy, but hello? Life is too short to always say no to a Chocolate Chip Snickerdoodle Cookie…or a pu-pu platter.
I’ve had a life-long crush on an insanely gorgeous and wonderful, loving man and I was lucky enough to marry him. He’s a writer, producer, actor, model, and my biggest cheerleader in life and bringing the The Tasty Page to fruition. Together we are blessed to have two amazing sons, who are always happy when I make eggs and Filipino garlic fried rice for them, General Gau’s Chicken or Italian Christmas Cookies (even when it’s not Christmas). And my husband and sons are my best taste testers.
Aside from my interest in food I love to CrossFit. I love the methodology. Period. Anything beyond CrossFit’s methodology is bullshit and a waste of time. The CrossFit workouts are definitely my favorite. They’ve given me strength I never knew I had. I’m encouraged to step outside of my comfort zone and to simply get it done (like running [ugh]). I’m grateful to have a fully-equipped garage gym to work out of. I enjoy lifting heavy things. And really enjoy throwing them down. That comes in handy when I leave Trader Joe’s and carry six bags of groceries to my car because I don’t want to have to return my cart after loading my car.
Speaking of my car. I also enjoy singing – in the car. Beyoncé, Adele, and I sound spectacular together. And the world stops when Sam Smith and I sing together. I can’t dance to save my life and I’m not much of an actress so my dreams of being a triple threat like J.Lo are shot.
But I do love to cook, eat, take photographs, and share my experiences. I wish we could all sit at a table together and enjoy the recipes and experiences here on The Tasty Page. I like to think that my blog is our table and I hope you enjoy your time here and continue to come back!
There’s more “about me” that I’m still discovering and hopefully you’ll enjoy finding out along with me.
